Don Pepin Garcia Legado de Pepin
In the last ten years, I’ve gone through a lot of cigars, and during that time a number of new brands have appeared. Like anything else, there are good ones and bad ones. Every so often a new brand would appear that would knock my socks off, and after doing a little digging, I’d find out why – because Don Pepin Garcia made them.
Of course, we’ve carried his cigars since the beginning, and I’ve never been disappointed with any of them, so when Legado de Pepin (Pepin’s Legacy) arrived, I couldn’t wait to light one up.
It’s a great-looking chocolate brown cigar with a glistening Corojo wrapper that’s been aged for five years. Underneath is a Criollo binder and Nicaraguan Cuban-seed filler. The result is a rich, but not overpowering cigar with a very Cubanesque flavor profile. You’ll notice sweet wood, cocoa, earth, toasty notes and a subtle spiciness. But the icing on the cake is that these are distinctly Pepin and remarkably affordable.
